OzzModz - Global Thread Alert​

Broadcast important forum posts with ease.
With the Global Thread Alert add-on, administrators and staff can instantly send a global alert to all active users when creating a thread—ensuring key announcements, events, or updates get the attention they deserve.

Requirements

• XenForo 2.2+
• 🛠 Setup required:
  After installing the add-on, head to the Admin Control Panel → Forums → Custom Thread Fields and configure the "[OzzModz] Send Global Alert" custom thread field:
  • Applicable forums: Set which forums global alerts can be sent from.
  • Editable by user groups: Under General options, set which groups are allowed to trigger global alerts (typically admin group).
  • Display location: This does not matter, we do not expose this field in the thread view.

Features​

Global Alerts on Thread Creation
Enable a checkbox when posting a thread to trigger an alert sent to all eligible users.

Active Users Only
Target users who have been active in the last 90 days—ensuring alerts go to engaged members only and reducing unnecessary noise.

Permission-Aware Alerts
Only users who have permission to view the thread will receive the alert, preserving forum privacy and respecting user group access.

Non-Intrusive Delivery
Alerts are added to the XenForo alert system, without triggering push notifications—perfect for important but non-disruptive messaging.

Efficient Batch Processing
Alerts are sent using a background job (500 users at a time) keeping performance optimized even on large forums.

Fully Automated Workflow
Once the alert checkbox is selected, the system takes care of the rest—no manual management needed.
